President’s Message by REA President
Mike Bresnahan
Hello! I want to take a moment to remind each of you about our relationship with the San Diego Public Employee Benefit Association and how it could affect you.

A number of retiree and employee organizations joined forces to create SDPEBA. Those founding organizations include:

  • American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 127
  • AFSCME Local 127 Retirees
  • Retired Fire and Police Association
  • San Diego Municipal Employees Association
  • San Diego Police Officers Association
  • San Diego County Probation Officers Association
  • City of San Diego Retired Employees’ Association

If you’re a member of CSDREA, you are already a member of SDPEBA — there’s nothing further you need to do to join.

SDPEBA offers a variety of benefits that may be of interest to City retirees, such as:

  • Dental coverage
  • Vision plans
  • Supplemental insurance options
  • Legal services plans
  • Life insurance options
  • Identity protection and other voluntary benefits
Everyone’s situation is different, so I encourage you to review the benefit details and decide for yourself whether one or more of these offerings makes sense for you.
Just as importantly: if you decide to enroll in a benefit through SDPEBA, you do NOT have to pay again for a similar benefit you can get through the City of San Diego. Please compare carefully and avoid duplicating coverage or costs.

Our goal in helping create SDPEBA was to provide you access to additional benefits and professional staff who can answer your questions directly and administer these programs efficiently.

If you have questions about the plans or need help evaluating your options, please contact SDPEBA staff directly:

Phone: 888-315-8027
Email: [email protected] or [email protected]

They can walk you through your options and help you make the choice that’s right for you.

Thank you for your membership!
