Hello, I hope that you all have had a safe and happy holiday season! On a number of occasions I have written about the process of a private company taking over the healthcare tasks previously performed by staff from SDCERS. You should be aware by now that a company named Benefit Outsourcing Solutions, Inc. (BOS) was the company selected by the City of San Diego. This transition has been taking place for some time. By the time you read this, BOS will be the new vendor, operating as the City of San Diego Retiree Health Service Center. I have received feedback from a number of retirees who have contacted the new vendor and it has been very positive. The representatives have seemed polite and knowledgeable. If you are receiving reimbursement for Medicare Part B and the Income Medicare Adjustment Amount (IRMAA) you need to submit your 2025 Benefit Verification letter to the City of San Diego Retiree Health Services Center rather than SDCERS as you have done in the past. The recent communication on this topic stated that this information needs to be received by 1/10/2025 to be included in your January 2025 pension check. Information received later will be processed with the following payroll cycle. The letter also included instructions on how submit the verification letter. I believe you will find that this shift in vendors has been a positive one.
