Retirees: Extra, Extra! Pension news in the 9-15-17 SDUT
First item is a joint letter to the UT Editor by Valentine Hoy, President of SDCERS Board and Mark Hovey, SDCERS CEO. The letter discusses Board action at the September 8, SDCERS Board meeting. This topic was the subject of a full (two to three hours) Board discussion. You can view the Board video on the SDCERS Website (www.sdcers.org) . The questions and discussion will give you great faith in our elected and appointed SDCERS Trustees and Staff. Good exchange.
The second item is an Op-Ed piece by the Presidents of the County Retiree Association, REA and RFPA. Good article; suggest you save it for use in explaining a pension fallacy spread by people who should know better, and probably do, that has received barrels of ink in local news. But the purveyors of the fallacy choose to use it for obvious reasons. We know truth is stranger than fiction, but fiction is a lot more exciting and gets more headlines.
So don’t waste your time trying to enlighten the usual suspects, but share the information with your friends and neighbors who may have been misled, by the usual suspects.
We don’t get that much ink very often, so spread it around.
