General Meeting Minutes – 9/12/2023

Vice-President for Advocacy Mike Bresnahan informed members of the passing of Dave Twomey. He also reminded members that there are open seats on the Board and interested members should contact him.

Gregg Rademacher of SDCERS reported that the rate of return over the last year was 5.2%, and that the annual Health Fair will be on November 1st.

The program was our own Charlie Hogquist, who told us about how many streets were named in the San Diego area. He informed us that many neighborhoods in San Diego were once separate “cities” and that almost all had numbered streets. Once they got absorbed into the expanding City of San Diego, those numbered streets had to be renamed. As a substitute for numbers, streets were often renamed alphabetically and often with a theme (i.e., trees along Balboa Park, authors in Point Loma).
