General Meeting Minutes

Meeting held via Zoom

President Dick Wilken welcomed members to the meeting. He informed members that in-person meetings will resume in July at the War Memorial Building; the Board is working on details.

Cynthia Queen informed members that they should expect a letter from SDCERS regarding the shift in healthcare coverage from a fiscal year basis to calendar year; additional information about the shift is on the SDCERS website and by phone. She also reported that this year’s COLA would be announced Friday.

 

PROGRAM

The program was Mark Berninger, the Natural Resources Manager for the City, who supervises over 26,000 acres of open space that is habitat for 46 endangered plant species and 39 animal species, some of which are unique to the San Diego area. He gave the history of the Multiple Species Conservation Program and how endangered species are monitored. He informed members that the countywide urban reserve is the largest in the lower 48 states and is larger than some national parks.
