General Meeting Minutes
Meeting held via Zoom
President Dick Wilken greeted attendees and reminded them that the meeting was being recorded and will be posted on our You Tube channel. The minutes of the February meeting were approved.
Dick informed members that the Board meetings are open to all. Any member who wishes to attend a Board meeting should contact Secretary Brad Jacobsen and he will forward the Zoom link to the meeting. Also, if any members are interested in reviewing the financial reports, they can request the documents directly from Treasurer Karen Butler.
Cynthia Queen of SDCERS reported that the annual actuarial valuation presentation will be this month. She reminded members that if their email address has changed, they need to re-register at the SDCERS member portal.
The program was Dr Wilma Wooten, Director of San Diego County Public Health Services. Dr Wooten presented a fact-filled PowerPoint presentation on the history of Covid-19 in the county, its impacts on various demographic groups, and the rollout of the various vaccines. Among the highlights were: San Diego County’s first case was reported exactly one year ago, on March 9, 2020; 54% of the cases are among people aged 20-49 and 30% are among people aged 50 and older; to date, 13% of county residents are fully vaccinated; and that EMTs are providing vaccinations in rural areas of the county where it is not practical to establish vaccination centers.
