Special Board Meeting Minutes

Meeting held via Zoom
Members present: Mike Bresnahan, Shirley Hall, Joan McNamara, Mary Ann Stepnowsky, John Tsiknas, Dave Twomey, Richard Wilken, Janet Wood
Item 1 Motion by Janet Wood, Second by Dick Wilken
Motion to approve the expenditure of funds necessary to print and mail a special recruitment letter to selected City of San Diego retirees. The Board determined that our insurance coverage does include data breach coverage, as such it covers the Boards concerns about any potential insurance liability related to this mailing.
Item 2 Motion by Dick Wilken, Second by John Tsiknas
Motion to approve the following categories of SDCERS participants to receive the targeted recruitment letter:
PLAN SPONSOR – San Diego Unified Port District and Regional Airport Authority retirees will be excluded. City of San Diego retirees will be the target audience
MEMBERSHIP CLASSIFICATION – All classifications of City of SD retirees will be the target audience. However, REA will notify the Retired Fire and Police Association in advance of the mailing.
PARTICIPANT TYPE – Non REA members will be the target audience to receive the mailing. However REA will email current REA members an electronic version of the recruitment letter to keep them informed.
RETIREMENT STATUS – Active and inactive employees will not receive the letter. Deferred Vested, Active DROP, Retired, Retired DROP, and Disability Retired will be the target audience.
HIRE DATE RANGE – N/A
RETIREMENT/DROP ENTRY DATE RANGE – Anyone retired after January 1, 2000.
