September Meeting Minutes by Board Member Stacey LoMedico
President Mike Bresnahan informed the members that the online registration and payment process for the lunch is working well with a majority of the members using the online system. Due to the need to order the lunch on the weekend before the meeting, if you pay for lunch but need to cancel before 5pm on the Friday before the meeting, you will be credited toward a future lunch. If you cancel after Friday, you will not receive a refund.
With the City of San Diego moving forward with paid parking in Balboa Park, Mike explained that it is possible that paid parking will be implemented before the October meeting. He asked the members if they would attend the meetings if there was paid parking. Most indicated they would attend, while several said it would depend upon the cost for the parking. One person said they would not attend if they had to pay for parking.
Natasha Collura of SDCERS informed members the SDCERS Annual Member Meeting will be held on October 21 in the Balboa Park Club – Santa Fe Room at 11:30 a.m. This is the same date as the annual Health Fair and she is hopeful that members will attend.
Natasha also shared that due to State law, SDCERS is changing their website to include .gov instead of the .org that is in place today. There is no impact to members if you go to the current website, you will be redirected automatically to the new website address.
PROGRAM
The speaker was Herb W. Morgan, III is the Sr. Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of Cantor Fitzgerald Managed ETF Portfolios. Herb served as a member of SDCERS’ Board of Administration from April 2009 to July 2013.
Herb provided an informative presentation on the President’s Tariff and Trade Policy, as well as providing an overview on the U.S. Deficit Outlook and Policy.
