The August meeting speaker is Jennifer Williamson, a Principal Transportation Planner who oversees the transit development and service planning section for SANDAG. She has been working in public transportation for 25 years and has overseen corridor projects, the Purple Line Trolley study, the development of the South Bay Rapid project, and the implementation of the “Rapid” network of services.
Most recently Jennifer has been the lead planner for the Airport Connectivity study and the Regional Vision. Jennifer holds a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from San Diego State University.
We have all heard a great deal over the past few years about the grand plans to prepare San Diego for its transportation future and all of the related issues; increased housing densities, a per-mile charge to motorists for using the freeways and, of course, how to pay for it all.
Recently, SANDAG suffered a significant setback when the Registrar of Voters determined that the petition submitted to qualify the funding measure for the November ballot contained an insufficient number of valid signatures.
So now what? Can another run be made? And if so, by whom?
Meanwhile, Terminal 1 expansion has broken ground; SANDAG continues planning for the vital airport-transit center link. Our speaker today will bring us up to date on the details and how the project is impacted by the apparent failure to get to get a funding plan before the voters in November.
REA COVID Policy
All members and guests are required to show proof of vaccination in order to attend in-person meetings. This requirement was based on a survey of over 64% of the REA members. Wearing a mask is voluntary. It is left to each individual member/guest to decide what is safest for them.
We are pleased to welcome back Phil’s BBQ after a long hiatus. A few changes in process will be implemented but the same great food you remember. Instead of buffet style meals will be presented as individual box lunches. Here’s the menu:
